The pies the limit for Stroud’s new indoor market

6 March 2020

The award-winning independent pie maker Pieminister is the latest company to announce they’re joining Stroud’s new indoor artisan market when it opens later in the spring.

Founded in Bristol by brothers-in-law Tristan Hogg and Jon Simon, Pieminister has been running festival and market stalls since 2003, including a stall at London’s famous Borough Market; the inspiration for the new Five Valleys Market in Stroud.

The Pieminister stall will sell a delicious range of pies which are made using responsibly sourced, ethical ingredients.  As well as British beef and free-range chicken and bacon recipes, there are plenty of meat free and vegan pies to try too.

Pieminister favourites include the beef steak and real ale Moo, the free-range British chicken and mushroom Fungi Chicken, and Kevin (as in Kevin Keegan, vegan!) a plant-based pie filled with tomato, mushroom, baby onions and red wine.  Pieminster’s famous gluten-free pies will also feature on the menu, as will the new range of saffron-pastry patties; perfect if you want a quick, delicious snack to enjoy on the go.

Pieminister are joining a great line up of traders at the new indoor market at Five Valleys – where over 20 permanent market stalls are getting taken up fast by traders ranging from fishmongers to artisan bakers as well as some great food to go options.

The company is now starting to recruit for a Stroud team to run the new Five Valleys stall and more information on how to apply can be found at www.fivevalleysstroud.co.uk

Jon Simon, Pieminister Co-founder and MD says,

“The Five Valleys Market is right up our street as it’s all about bringing together good, honest food from independent producers   - and that’s exactly what our family business stands for. We see Stroud as a community that genuinely cares about where their food comes from, so we hope our responsibly made pies and ongoing partnerships, from planting forests with Forestry England to donating surplus pies to FareShare, to supporting FRANK Water, will catch their eye. And the pies taste great too! If you’ve not had one before, come and ask for a Mothership.  It’s our legendary pie feast, created at Glastonbury back in 2004.  It’s a delicious introduction to Pieminister”.

Centre Manager at Five Valleys, Dionne Moore, said: “We are really excited to have Pieminister on board at our new market, they’re a fantastic company with great quality products which is exactly what we want to showcase and focus on with our new permanent market concept.

“We’re really looking forward to launching the market later in the spring – we’re getting lots of interest in the units and its really coming together to create a fantastic foodie offering for our shoppers.”
