Stroud Bowl welcomes world professional players to its lanes

25 September 2023

This month the team at Stroud Bowl welcomed world professional players, Chris Sloane and Dom Barrett, to play on the lanes.

Appearing at the English Open the crowds were treated to a rare opportunity to watch the players who flew from Ireland and Las Vegas to play at the venue based on the top floor of Five Valleys shopping centre in Stroud.

The bowl, which was taken over in 2011 by Team England players Kim and Diane Johnson, has built up a reputation in the bowling industry for being one of the best centres in the UK.

The facility then received a face lift ten years later in 2021 and now hosts a number of key events, fixtures and tournaments throughout the year attracting some big names in the bowling world.

A keen bowler himself, Deputy Manager Shae Milner has focused on reaching out to the local community and making Stroud Bowl accessible for all since his appointment in July. This has included developing a family friendly package of offers and attractions, making the most of this world-class facility.

Shae said: “We are fortunate to have such a great facility here in Stroud with plenty of space to host large groups of children for kid’s parties and several bowling tournaments and fixtures.

“To round off the offer we are also proud to show the Rugby World Cup and Grand Prix on our huge 140 inch projector.”

The bowl offers a wide range of food and drink options including a full cocktail menu from their extensive bar, Bar 300.

Stroud Bowl employs 15 people and is open seven days a week with daily offers running from their £4 Tuesday’s and family packages at the weekend. The team also encourage work parties to book dedicating the lanes on Wednesdays for teams to beat their boss.

Five Valleys shopping centre is undergoing an extensive programme of refurbishment works with new announcements on more businesses opening coming soon.
