Shoppers ready for a whole host of fun activities at Five Valleys shopping centre in Stroud

6 December 2023

Shoppers can look forward to a whole host of fun activities - including festive market stalls, live music and special events - at Five Valleys shopping centre this weekend.

Following the bonhomie of last Friday’s Goodwill Evening, Stroud’s premier shopping centre will keep the feelgood factor going with a number of fun and festive-themed events across Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Jack Simpson, centre manager at Five Valleys, said: “We have been pulling out all the stops in the lead up to Christmas in order to make our customers' shopping experience extra special, which will continue this weekend.

“Alongside our special events and top food offering, it is also a chance to find out about top offers and discounts in our stores. So why not make a day or even a weekend of it and enjoy everything we have to offer, from shopping to food to family entertainment!”

The weekend will kick off with the popular weekly Friday Night Food Market, which will include late night shopping and the chance to try a range of delicious street food in the indoor market.

The centre will be open until 8.30pm giving visitors the chance to try some of the best food in the Cotswolds, from Indian to Japanese to classic sandwiches.

There will also be music in the air from 6pm onwards as students from Stroud College will be taking to the stage for a live performance.

The band will be playing a variety of sets both individually and as a group, covering a range of music styles to suit all tastes.

And Friday promises to be a busy night as Sandersons Boutique Store will be hosting their Christmas Sparkle event from 6pm to 8pm.

Guests can enjoy one to one fashion advice, complimentary gift wrapping on all purchases, live demos from Clarins, goodie bags, and a chance to spin the wheel for exclusive discounts and prizes.

Visitors will also get a chance to choose a blank pottery piece and then decorate it however you like as Claire from Paint-a-Pot will be returning for her Christmas pop-up on Friday and Saturday between 10am and 4pm.

This event is expected to be popular, particularly on the Saturday, so contact Claire on 07814 391050 or clairehill05@gmail.com to book a table.

Turning to the weekend, the centre will host its first festive craft market on Saturday and Sunday between 10am and 4pm.

A number of traders will be taking over the outdoor courtyard area, providing shoppers with the perfect opportunity to find an extra special gift for a loved one.

This includes Nancy Grace (embroidered greeting cards), LeGreen Skincare (handmade skincare products), Gifted For You (cakes and brownies), Jo Wheeler (crochet gifts), Createwell Project (handmade jewellery and craft kits), Ruth Watkins (jewellery and scarves), Rushton Dog Rescue Charity, Cotswold Cubs (handmade children's clothing) and Sam Bates (pin badges).

The busy markets will be accompanied on the Saturday with live music from The Gloucester Excelsior Band from 12.30pm onwards.

Meanwhile, Morwenna the Harpist will be performing on the Sunday from noon onwards to really help visitors to get into the festive spirit.

Shoppers will also be able to take advantage of free parking, which is running on Sundays leading up to the New Year, and it also serves as a chance to browse many of the centre’s stores which are already stocking some fabulous ranges for Christmas.
