Local purveyors of fine food expand their offer at Five Valleys

7 August 2023

Food shoppers and market goers in Stroud will be pleased to learn that Knight’s have expanded their quality food offering to now include fresh fish.

Shoppers can now expect the same quality service, knowledge and advice from the team on their new range of seafood.

As well as this, shoppers can now shop for their food produce in one go as Knight's have moved their fruit and veg strand of the business next door to their butchers knocking through to make one large food store.

Shoppers picking up their weekly essentials will now be able to pick and purchase their favourite, quality cuts of meat, fresh fruit and veg and seafood all from the one large unit benefiting from the team’s expert knowledge across all product ranges.

Members of staff will helpfully advise on cooking times, recipe ideas and even quantities to make it a hassle-free shopping trip.

Knight’s can be found opposite Armadeli, an independent business selling a wide range of cheese, charcuterie and other specialist foods as well as being conveniently located next door to the award-winning Artisan Baker.

Owner, Jack Knight, said: “The customer is at the heart of everything we do and we want to make everyone’s shopping trip as easy and convenient as possible.

“We have a great seafood offer using the best suppliers from across the UK. Customers can expect to find salmon, cod, haddock and tuna as well as more luxury items such as monkfish, scallops, dressed crab and lobster.”

Knight’s continue to offer the Stroud community a fine range of locally sourced meat and carefully selected fresh fruit and veg.

Jack joined the centre’s Borough Market style food hall as a butcher working for Waghornes and after three years he bought the business off the owners and rebranded as Knight’s. In the same year Jack opened a second unit selling fruit and veg and has now further expanded into seafood, ensuring his customers can get everything they need for a weekly shop all in one place.

Jack continued: “We have a loyal customer base who have supported us from the start by shopping local and recognising the value of what we do. We offer the chance for people to shop sustainably by offering as little or as much as a person requires. Whether a customer is cooking for one person or for a party of 20 we can supply just the right amount of everything meaning zero waste and a cost saving, which is so important as the cost-of-living increases for everyone.”

The new store will be open six days per week from 10am to 5pm.

As well as fresh produce, foodies can expect to find a rich tapestry of gourmet street food from around the globe at the market, which has just celebrated its 3rd birthday.

From Pad Thai to spicy chicken, New York bagels to sushi, pasta to bubble teas, the market also hosts a late-night Friday every week until 8:30pm with live music.

Centre Manager at Five Valleys, Jack Simpson, said: “The market has transformed greatly over the past three years and Jack is a prime example of a start-up business which has thrived here.”

Five Valleys is undergoing an extensive refurbishment by property developers and regeneration specialists, Dransfield Properties. The centre boasts a number of quality independent boutiques including Sandersons department store, stockists of Holland Cooper, Barbour, Hackett and Boss coming soon.
