Artisan Baker Receives Overwhelming Support at Cheltenham Opening

24 October 2022

The Artisan Baker opened their second bakery and coffee shop in the Cotswolds last week following financial support for their expansion from their current landlord at Five Valleys in Stroud.

The new bakery and coffee shop can be found in Cheltenham’s Quadrangle development, which overlooks Imperial Gardens and joins its sister outlet based within Stroud’s Five Valleys Shopping Centre at their ‘Borough Market’ style food hall.

The Artisan Baker himself, Ori Hellerstein, is overseeing both outlets using his 10 years of experience to fine tune his popular award-winning and fully organic baked products, which are all being made at the Stroud hub leading to some unique training and employment opportunities being created for the town.

People flocked to the new store to sample Ori’s range of organic hand-made pastries, bread, cakes and other baked goods which can also be taken away. As well as this a wide selection of sandwiches, hot and cold drinks and even charcuterie style meat and cheese boards, which can be enjoyed with a glass of wine at the venue, was on offer.

Ori commented: “We’re thrilled with the response we’ve received in Cheltenham, we have expanded our offering from bakery to coffee shop to include a slightly wider range of small plates and the feedback has been great!

“We’re grateful for the confidence shown by Mark and Dransfield Properties, it’s not an easy time for businesses to take on an expansion in this industry but we do believe we bring something special to Cheltenham and hope our customers feel the same.”

The Artisan Baker is open from 8am for breakfast lunch and snacks, seven days a week. They also have plans later to extend their opening into the evenings in the near future.

Managing Director of Dransfield Properties who own Five Valleys, Mark Dransfield DL, said: “Ori has a tremendous amount of talent and we’re so pleased to be able to support him in his expansion into Cheltenham.

“All of his organic, handmade products are made from their Stroud base within our centre, which means further jobs have been created in the town.”

With the backing from Dransfield Properties the business has now quickly accelerated from employing a team of 16 people at Stroud, to now 25 members of staff in total helping Ori to run the two operations.

The Artisan Baker in Stroud is now open 7 days per week and can be found in the Indoor Market area alongside other artisan producers selling meat, deli produce, fruit and veg plus a range of street food vendors.
