FIVE VALLEYS TAKE ON ABSEIL CHALLENGE TO SUPPORT LOCAL CHARITY

Managers from Five Valleys shopping centre in Stroud will be rappelling down the towns tallest building to raise money for Allsorts.
On Saturday September 17th, a charity abseil will take place at the car park behind Ecotricity in Stroud, to raise money for local charity, Allsorts.
For over a decade Allsorts has been helping to support children and young adults with additional needs in Gloucestershire by creating a safe space for young people to have fun.
The charity is based in the Brunel Mall in Stroud at its Activity Hub where families can find a sensory room, activity space, changing places facility and a toy library. Here children with additional needs have a place to enjoy, explore, build on their skills, and make friends. The charity also provides support groups for the rest of the family. Across Gloucestershire the charity supported 341 families, 1,361 individuals, during the last year.
The facility also provides the rest of the families with support. Across Gloucestershire the charity supports 375 families and has had 850 people attend an Allsorts activity in the last year.
In support of Allsorts, a team from Five Valleys has formed and will be taking part in an abseil to raise funds for the charity and its work.
Heading up the team is Five Valleys Centre Manager Jessica Derham, who began supporting the charity Allsorts months ago providing them with a platform in the centre to fundraise and raise awareness of their services.
Joining Jessica is Sandersons Boutique’s Store Manager, Simon Bateman who will be taking on the challenge to show the stores support of their work.
Sandersons Boutique opened in 2021 and has become an integral part of Five Valleys and the wider town bringing designer labels to Stroud that have not previously been represented such as Barbour, Barbour International, Levi’s, Whistles, Tommy Hilfiger and the Cotswolds brand, Holland Cooper. He commented: “We’re hugely grateful to our local community for their support at our department store so I’m really looking forward to giving something back to the town by taking on this challenge to support all of the good work Allsorts do for our local families.”
As well as Jessica and Simon, the owner of Five Valleys independent homeware and gift shop, Victoria R, will be facing the drop! Victoria Rowley has been a tenant at the centre since 2021 after she took the plunge moving her business from market stall to retail unit.
Victoria champions locally sourced handmade products and independent brands selling handmade candles and melts, lamps and soft furnishings, bath bombs and soaps, gemstone jewellery, handmade glassware and a large range of Men’s health and beauty products.

Any donation, big or small, means a lot to the team who will be taking on the brave challenge.
Jessica said: “This is going to be a great event, getting everyone together to raise money for a local charity and I am over the moon that we have our own Five Valleys team getting involved, it really shows the community spirit!”
Rachael Fletcher, Fundraising Manager from Allsorts said: "Jess and Simon have been great to work with over the last few months. Nothing is ever too much trouble for them and they have been brilliant at offering their support".
For those who are feeling charitable and brave there is a £20 registration fee for joining up to the abseil challenge.
